Open Allegiance, a spatial drawing in 200mm 3M #471 black floor tape on moveable gallery walls (Photo: Sue Blackburn), in

CONSTRUCTED PAINTING
Opening 5-7.30pm Tuesday 2 March 2010, continuing until Saturday 13 March

Kudos Gallery, UNSW, 6 Napier Street, Paddington Wed-Fri 11am-6pm, Sat 11am-4pm

Open Allegiance converts into sculptures the four moveable walls that were previously made to help convert the interior of Saint Sophia Hall into Kudos Gallery. It uses black floor tape to mark the edge of one half of each wall. The walls were divided in what was thought to be all possible ways—one horizontally, one vertically and two diaginally—until it was pointed out at the opening that there is a fifth division possible, and Model for the Fifth Division was added before the show closed.

Image above includes coloured floor work by Beata Geyer and light work at back of image by Francesca Mataraga.
